Swimming lessons for adults

Adult advanced

For 18+ who want to swim effortlessly. Smooth, seamless strokes you can be proud of.

Learn more efficient strokes. Learn how to dive and tumble turn or train for an event and swim laps of the pool.

We improve: breathing techniques, timing and swim skills. We develop your strokes with coaching tips to build stamina and speed.

Please choose 'Adult improver' if this course seems too much for you. If you can already float, kick or move through the water or if you want to learn how to swim out of your depth then Adult improver is your course.

If you are nervous of the water, cannot float or have a fear of getting your face wet then please choose 'Adult beginner'.

Adult beginners

For 18+ who have little or no experience of swimming. This is particularly for people who are nervous of the water or who have a fear of deep water.

If you are wanting to improve your basic strokes and build stamina, you should choose 'Adult improver'.

Adult improver

For 18+ who want to improve their basic strokes, breathe properly and build stamina.

We also cover:
*Diving, snorkeling, tumbleturns and handstands!

If you are nervous of the water or have a fear of deep water then please choose 'Adult beginner'.

Aqua Fit & General Swim Membership (16+ only)

Enjoy a combined membership for Aqua & a general swim, this membership is for 16 yrs +

Aqua Fit sessions (16+)

45 min session which includes a warm-up, cardio and strength-training exercises, and a cooldown.

Your General Swim Membership allows you to swim as many times as you wish, during any of the 'General Swim' times posted on the timetable.

A section of the pool is made available for General Swimming. It may be a lane, a width or 3/4 of a length, depending on the time of day.

Spaces are limited and are first-come, first-serve. If the pool is full, you may be turned away.

Please note: Other classes may be happening at the same time as your general swim session, they could potentially be noisy, splashy and create waves.

They include:
Aqua fit / swimming lessons (all ages) / mermaid swimming or lifesaving

Aqua Yoga

Aqua Yoga offers a gentle and easy way to enjoy movement and breathing by using the support of the warm water in a really magical environment.

The Aqua Yoga course presents a combination of original exercises - many of them classic yoga postures - adapted to water, that have been found to be especially beneficial to those who suffer joint pain or mobility issues.

Family Swim

Admissions Policy:

Please note the guidelines and admission policy is applicable at all pools unless stated.

There is a maximum of 18 places available for a General Swim (30mins).

Every member of the family must be booked on to swim. registered as a swimmer and booked into the lesson. If you are the parent / carer of the swimmer you must

Children aged between 2 and 3 must be accompanied by an adult (over 16) on a one to one ratio. Under 2s are not permitted to swim. The venue does not permit it.

Children between 4 and 7 must be accompanied by an adult (over 16) on a two to one ratio.

Children aged 8 and over can enter the pool unaccompanied.

ALL under 4s must wear a floatation aid. The floatation aid must be attached to the child. For example, armbands, floatation vests or a float with an attachment. Swim rings without a seat or hand held woggles are not accepted as floatation aids.

All children must be supervised at all times. Parents / Carers are not permitted to leave the poolside.

We recommend all 4 - 7 year olds to wear armbands or floatation vests.

Swimming ability is judged on its own merits by the swim teacher / lifeguards on shift.

General swim membership

Your General Swim Membership allows you to swim as many times as you wish, during any of the 'General Swim' times posted on the timetable.

Private swimming lessons offer personal and continuous support as you learn to swim. They are designed to provide personal instruction and help with specific skills such as improving stroke technique or reducing anxiety for both children and adults.

Lessons are booked in half-term blocks of 5-7 weeks depending on the length of the term.

Children must be 4 years old and above to take private lessons.

There are currently no 'Adult' lessons available.

Private lessons 1:1

Private swimming lessons offer personal and continuous support as you learn to swim. They are designed to provide personal instruction and help with specific skills such as improving stroke technique or reducing anxiety for both children and adults.
