Learn To Swim Stage 1

• is not afraid to put eyes in the water
• is not afraid to float front and back
• can push off and glide like a rocket
• can front paddle (meaning arms stretched out in front and legs kicking)

Learn To Swim Stage 2

• can jump into the pool
• can do breaststroke leg motions
• can do an elementary front crawl and backstroke, including lifting arms out of the water and over the head
• can submerge for toys

Learn To Swim Stage 3

• can swim front crawl and backstroke for at least 10m without stopping
• can breathe to the side
• can manage arms and legs at the same time in butterfly and breaststroke
• can dive from the water's surface (not the poolside) to collect a pool toy from the pool floor

Learn To Swim Stage 4

• can regularly breathe to the side during front crawl
• has rhythmic front crawl and backstroke (for at least 15m)
• can swim at least 10m using butterfly and breaststroke without stopping
• can float and move backwards (using only hands by their sides), no kicking involved (sculling)

Learn To Swim Stage 5

• can swim front crawl and backstroke for at least 25m without stopping
• can swim rhythmic butterfly and breaststroke (for at least 15m)
• can do handstands and somersaults

Learn To Swim Stage 6

• can do tumble turns and tread water for at least 30 seconds
• can swim at least 25m using butterfly and breaststroke without stopping
• can dive in from the side head first

Adult Beginner

• is not afraid to be in water and doesn't mind when it is unpredictable with splash or waves
• is not afraid to put ears in the water
• is not afraid to put face in the water and blow bubbles
• is not afraid to float front and back
• can push off the wall and glide
• can paddle forwards, moving both arms and legs

Adult Intermediate

• can do front crawl and backstroke, with arms leaving the water, for at least 50m
• can breathe to the side with rhythmic strokes
• can swim a basic breaststroke or butterfly for at least 50m
• can jump into the pool, submerge, and tread water
• can swim in the deep end (depth of at least 2m)
