Channel your inner mermaid, shark or dolphin with Swimcentral. You can learn to swim like a mermaid using a mono fin and tail skin so you’ll look like one too!
Our instructors run mermaid and mono fin sessions, teaching children (8+ years) and adults of all ages how to swim like a mermaid using a mono fin and/or tail skin in a safe, fun, environment.
Classes, Parties and Experiences are held by fully trained and qualified instructors.
Mermaid classes
MermaidsUK Swim Courses will cover how to put on the tail, how to enter and exit the water, be able to move safely in the water, basic breath holding and some mermaid skills work, which will lead to basic routines.
First off we give you a monofin which is basically a large flipper, but instead of having one on each foot, both feet go in to the same one. We then give you your tail (you can even choose its design and colour!) to go over the top of the monofin and turn you in to a fully fledged mer-person!
Each stage is introduced gradually so that the basic safety skills are covered at each stage to ensure everybody is comfortable and safe as they become this magical sea creature!
You will then continue to progress onto partner and group routines, advanced movements, mermaid fitness and some basic synchronised mermaid swims. Mermaid swimming is great for improving your core strength, flexibility, stamina and balance. Find your next available session here:
Mermaids & Mono Fin Experience
Mermaids and Mono Fin Experience, you will learn how to put on the tail, how to enter and exit the water, be able to move safely in the water, basic breath holding and some mermaid skills work, which will lead to basic routines.
All participants must be 6 years or plus and pass the MermaidsUK Swim Test.
Mermaids experience
Enjoy the fun of becoming a Mermaid or Merman with our experienced MermaidsUK Instructors. The Mermaid Experience includes mono fin hire and hire of our beautiful MermaidsUK tail.
MermaidsUK Experiences are suitable for adults and children. Our Swimcentral Experiences are held at Prior Park College.
The Mermaids and Mono Fin Experience includes hire of a Mono fin and tail skin, swimming in the tail and learning the basic mermaid movements.
All participants must be 6 years or plus and pass the MermaidsUK Swim Test. Photos and videos of your experience mto book your Mermazing® Experience.
Mermaid parties
Celebrate your Birthday Party or special occasion with our qualified Level 2 Mermaid and Mono Fin Instructors. Your Mermaid Party will include Mono fin hire and hire of our beautiful MermaidsUK tail.
All participants must be 6 years or plus and pass the MermaidsUK Swim Test. Photos and videos of your Mermazing®day may be taken. All parties are tailored to individual needs and requests.
MermaidsUK Swim Test
- Minimum age 6 Years old
- Swim 25 metres comfortably
- Be able to submerge your face fully whilst swimming
- Be able to tread water in both shallow and deep water
- Be able to lift your knees and turn 360 degrees in both directions
- Be able to demonstrate a basic dolphin kick for 5 metres
